Rev. Marcus L. Fairley, M.Div., Pastor
Marcus Lee Fairley was born and reared in the small town of Albemarle, North Carolina. He was born the second son of four on March 8th, 1986 to Michael Eugene Fairley Sr. & Lula Fairley. Marcus is a 2004 graduate of Albemarle High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. He graduated in 2008, from Johnson & Wales University, Charlotte, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality/Hotel Management. He is a 2018 graduate with Master of Divinity from Hood Theological Seminary Salisbury North Carolina.
Marcus at the age of ten accepted JESUS as his personal savior at St. Mark Holiness Church in Badin, North Carolina during a youth revival. Marcus church affiliations include the Colson Street Church of G-d under the leadership of the late Pastor Norris C. Bryant where he was reared from a toddler to his early adolescence years. As Marcus parents felt the need to develop the family more spiritually and build a stronger relationship with G-d they began to seek out another church. The search led them to Saints Delight Church in November of 1997 under the leadership of Bishop James E. Richardson.
Rev. Fairley has a genuine concern for the youth of today and is an advocate for education. He believes that G-d has called him in a time such as this to build the bridge between generations of the past with generations of the present. One of his most prominent gifts is the ability to see the good that is withineveryone. (Jeremiah 29:11) Marcus lives his life by the great South African creed “Imbiti” – “I am because we are” and his greatest desire is to please G-d.
As a member of Saints Delight Church, Marcus was baptized at the age of twelve. He has been very active in most ministries including Sunday School, Bible Study, Y.P.H.A (young people holiness association), Youth Choir, Usher Board, and whatever his hands find to do. (Ecclesiastes 9:10) Marcus accepted the call of ministry in 2006 and preached his first public sermon on April 19, 2008, entitled, “Arise Go Over this Jordan,” Joshua 1:1-9.
Rev. Fairley served as Youth Pastor at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late great Rev. Dr. C.L. Phelps from 2014-2017. Rev. Fairley now currently serves as the pastor of Zion Baptist Church, Reidsville, North Carolina.
Reverend Fairley is actively involved in civic engagement and social justice and serves in the capacities of Civic Engagement with local, state, and national NAACP and is employed as the Voter Involvement and Constituent Engagement Program Associate for North Carolina Black Alliance.
